Surrey County Council have launched an anti-Fly Tipping Campaign.
Recycle for Surrey – Fly-tipping
A blight on the countryside and a drain on our resources
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence which is on the increase in Surrey. Last year this anti-social activity cost Surrey’s councils nearly £1million to clear up.
Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste on land, usually at the side of roads and on private land and fields. It can range from a black bag of household waste to van loads of building waste.
If caught, fly-tippers can now be issued fixed penalty notices of up to £400 for small scale fly-tipping, or could face an unlimited fine or imprisonment for larger fly-tipping incidents.
Vehicles suspected of being involved can be seized (and destroyed on conviction).
