Parish Ward Changes 2nd May 2019:

“Launched at the Windlesham Society AGM on 13th February 2019, a Petition to create a separate Parish Council for Windlesham Village alone.

That is devolved from the current 3 village model combined with Bagshot and Lightwater with a total electorate of over 13,000.   Windlesham alone with 3,300 is 25% greater than the national average.   So large enough in scale to function efficiently yet small enough to understand the local issues and be representational.

With the Parish Ward changes taking place from May 2019, which were imposed without consultation, there is a strong belief that Windlesham will be under represented and therefore disadvantaged with only 3 Councillors in a full council of 18.

The petition, when supported by 10% of our Village electorate, will be submitted to Surrey Heath Borough Council calling on them to conduct a “Community Governance Review”.

This is a formal, legal and democratic process which is the available remedy to take control of our own affairs.   To maintain the character and integrity of our village and to be represented by local people”.

The petition is available to sign in The Village Pharmacy, Windlesham Barbers, Savannah and The Windlesham Club.
