The book details the lives of Dot’s earliest Baigent ancestors, tracing them back to Crondall, Hampshire in the 1600s (with some records dating back an entire century earlier). It follows their eventual migration to Windlesham, highlighting how centrally significant our village was to the Baigent name and the family in general.

The Huguenot Connection: The introduction focuses on the high probability that the "Baigent" name is of Huguenot origin, likely originating in the Low Countries of Europe.
Evolution of a Name: The authors explore how the spelling of the surname changed subtly over the centuries—originally recorded as either Bagen or Bagin in the 1500s.
Global Footprints: Dot, the granddaughter of Sarah Jane Baigent (featured in the penultimate chapter), shares a direct link with Edward Baigent, who courageously migrated to New Zealand in 1841 (the focus of the book's final chapter).

Because this book was initially intended purely for family use, only a very short print run was produced. Dot and Roy have a few remaining copies left and are generously offering them to Windlesham Society members and local history enthusiasts at cost price.
