A Brilliant Day at the Windlesham Fete & Our Treasure Map Winner Revealed!

What a truly spectacular day we had on Saturday, 20th June at the annual Windlesham Fete! The sun shone brightly, and the community spirit was thriving.

From the moment the gates opened until the very end of the afternoon, the Windlesham Society stand was absolutely buzzing with activity. We were completely thrilled to meet so many long-standing residents, welcome new faces, and chat with visitors from further afield.

A Special Thanks to Our Local Representatives

It was fantastic to see so much support for the village from our local representatives. We were delighted to welcome our local MPAl Pinkerton, to the stand, along with many of our local councillors. Thank you to all of them for taking the time to stop by.

The Treasure Map Hunt: A True 1818 Mystery!

Our big feature was the Windlesham Treasure Map game, and the competition was fierce! We had dozens of eagle-eyes placing their guesses on where the hidden booty might be.

But ultimately, there could only be one winner of our generous grand prize: a £80 voucher to spend at The Half Moon pub! The winning guess was rooted in an incredible piece of genuine history. The "treasure" location was based on a true story from 1818, when historical silverware was stolen from St Paul's Cathedral. It was never found. However for our Treasure Hunt  we invented the idea that it turned up in Windlesham, hidden inside the oldest part of St John the Baptist Church.

Huge congratulations to our winner, Mike Neumann, whose son Alex also happened to perform at the Fete! We hope you enjoy a fantastic meal and a few drinks at the Half Moon on us!

To catch up on all the details behind this fascinating piece of history, pick up the September/October 2026 issue of the Windlesham Magazine.

See You Next Year!

Thank you to the fete organisers, the volunteers, and everyone who came over to say hello, ask questions, or scan our QR codes to renew their membership. Your support keeps the Society focused entirely on protecting and celebrating our village.

If you missed out on the treasure this time, don't worry, you can be absolutely sure to see us back at the fete next year with a brand-new hunt and more great prizes. See you then!
