Join the Windlesham Autumn Litter Tidy-Up: Saturday 5 September 2026

Help us keep our community beautiful as we head into the autumn months! The Windlesham Society invites all residents to take part in our upcoming community litter pick. It’s a fantastic way to meet neighbours, enjoy some fresh air, and make a visible difference to our local lanes and roads

Key Information

  • Date: Saturday 5 September 2026

  • Meet time: 1.45pm (for a 2.00pm start)

  • Meet place: Field of Remembrance car park

  • Duration: Around 1 hour

What We Provide:

The Society will supply all necessary cleanup equipment, including:

  • High-visibility jackets

  • Litter grabbers & hoops

  • Heavy-duty refuse bags

If you happen to own your own high-vis vest or litter picker, please feel free to bring them along!

We have also invited local representatives to join us to take part, we hope their diaries will allow the time to join us too.

How It Works (and how cars help!):

Once we gather at the Field of Remembrance car park, we will coordinate and assign specific streets, hedgerows, and roads across the village.

Drivers Wanted: If you are able to bring your car, it is incredibly helpful! Having a few vehicles allows us to safely transport volunteers and kit out to the busier perimeter and entrance roads into Windlesham that are otherwise tricky to reach on foot.

What to bring

If you have them please bring your own gloves, and wear robust clothing and suitable footwear.

Insurance and participation

Because this event is along roadsides it does carry a little bit of risk so the society covers the event with insurance, though there are things to note:

  • The Windlesham Society has approved public liability cover for members only

  • If you are not a member, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer on arrival

  • Participating volunteers must be 16 years and over

> Join / Renew Membership

What to expect at the event

  1. You’ll be registered for the pick

  2. A chance for photographs of the event

  3. We’ll have a welcome briefing

  4. Equipment for the litterpick provided to volunteers

  5. Volunteers will be grouped

  6. Roads will be allocated and most pairs will drive out to the agreed areas

  7. Litter picking begins

  8. Return back to the rendezvous point with your litter bag for drop off

Safety guidance

For safety, we work in pairs with a volunteer focuses on picking and bag-carrying, while another watches for traffic, especially on roads without pavements

If your litter bag becomes too heavy, leave it in a visible location and either collect it later or inform the organiser on return so it can be collected later on.

To Finish

Come back to the meeting point at the Field of Remembrance with your collected litter, you’ll be amazing how much you are able to pick up in a short time.

Any time you’re able to give makes a huge difference and we truly appreciate it.
